Market-Qatar Review

With FIFA World Cup 2022 and Vision Qatar 2030 in the pipeline, the FM and cleaning industries in the country are gearing up to deal with the massive infrastructural changes and the local challenges associated with the industry in the country.
Qatar is developing quickly and the local FM market is booming with an abundance of both local and international players, who are either already established in the country or working fast to do so. With new projects being tendered frequently such as the new airport in Doha, construction at Lusail, Musheireb Properties and Barwa’s portfolio, these mega projects differentiate the local and international players and certainly split the marketplace in two.
The value of the FM market in Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia to reach $892 billion in the next 25 years, based on more than US$220 billion worth of projects that are under way and being planned over the next five years.
This figure certainly represents a huge savings potential for property owners and developers who have the foresight to invest in long-term FM solutions.
Companies with significant presence in Qatar contracting business can easily make their presence in FM Industry by either acquiring International FM partners and/or adding new service portfolio within their current business as FM Contractors also

GDP Impact

Over the years, post Qatar winning the bid, the proliferation of real-estate development in the form of residential complexes, malls and even hotels has been noteworthy. In fact, just last year the Qatar Economic Outlook stated that the country’s GDP is set to grow 7.8 per cent this year from 6.3 per cent in 2014. And, the key to this growth is the construction industry, a direct impact of which is seen on the facilities management (FM) and cleaning industry.

When to Start FM?

So, is now the right time to get into Qatar? Yes, absolutely. As towers, low-rise buildings, stadiums and malls get built and near completion, the country’s FM market’s can be expected to grow exponentially in the coming months and years.
Qatar is definitely on the local FM radar as a growing market place for FM companies to do business, while, at the same time, maintaining market shares in their power bases, wherever they may be in the region. Will it be challenging to enter? Perhaps. Is the competition fierce? Most definitely. Are there opportunities? Plenty. Is it a mature market place? Well... is there one in the Middle East?
