According to the vision and policy of WEN Group to expand business internationally, president of our company had a chance to visit the State of Qatar first time in year 2000 as a delegated visitor to the Qatari government. At that time, Qatar obtained the duty to host 15th Asian Games 2006 and invited Thai government to participate in the tender for design and supervision of Hamad Medical City – Asian Games Athletes’ Village. With support from the Thai government and previous experiences in fast track design and construction of facilities to host several Asian Games, Federation of Design and Construction Services of Thailand (FEDCON) was established as a task force to tender and render services required by the Qatari government. Mr. Viboon Sriprasert, president of WEN, has also been elected to become the president of FEDCON after the design and supervision contract for Hamad Medical City was awarded to the Thai team. With his leadership together with highly experienced team, the project was delivered on time enabling Doha to proudly and successfully host the first Asian Games in the Middle East history.
With presence of FEDCON, WEN Group has followed the success of Thai team by starting its own operation in Qatar in 2004. The first project involves project management and supervision services for post-tensioning work packages for Ministry of Public Health & Staff Club, Central Energy Plant, Hospital Shell & Core, which are located in the Hamad Medical City. In 2005, WEN obtained the second project award for structural concrete work of Al Areen Residential building (B+G+33) in West Bay. In 2006-2008, WEN carried out the RC work for Islamic Institute at Al Waab as well as PT work for Museum of Islamic Arts and Medina Centrale in the Pearl.
Due to its professionalism and reliability in delivering state-of-the-art projects, WEN Group has registered a new local company called “WEN Qatar W.L.L.” in 2009 and obtained an award to carry out structural concrete work for one of the largest and most luxurious hospitals - Sidra Medical and Research Center project in Education City.
The success of WEN Qatar continues for many more landmark projects in Qatar such as National Museum of Qatar, Al Jassimya Tower at West Bay, New Desalination Plant in Ras Abu Fontas, Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety College, CP3B – Bridges & Infrastructure in Lusail, Burj Marina Tower in Lusail, and Lusail Office Tower Plot 50.
